You can help make our community a safer and more welcoming place.
Your donation allows us to print and give signs for free to people who are not able to pay for their own, replace stolen signs, and pay for accounting costs and website hosting. The Good Neighbors Project is an all-volunteer organization.
CANVASS WITH US
We want to spread this message of goodwill throughout our community and your neighborhood. Help us distribute signs and start conversations.
Distribute signs from your business
If you are interested in carrying these yard signs at your storefront in Western Massachusetts,
The Good Neighbors Project of Western Massachusetts is a group of volunteers that facilitates open dialogue about creating safe and welcoming neighborhoods for all people.
Since this project is growing, we have several volunteer positions available. These positions can be tailored to your interests and skills. We provide training for all positions. To express interest in volunteering with us, please fill out the form on the Volunteer page.
The purpose of our canvasses is to start dialogue about how to strengthen our communities and best support threatened populations such as immigrants. Canvassers offer yard signs that say, in three languages, “No matter where you are from, we’re glad you’re our neighbor”.
We are looking for people who can recruit a group of canvassers from their friends, neighbors, or co-workers and organize weekend canvasses throughout Western Massachusetts. This is an excellent volunteer position for someone with door to door canvass experience. This person will provide a short training session at the beginning of canvass (based on Good Neighbors Project materials) and a debriefing session at the end. This person is responsible for picking up signs from the sign distribution manager and returning any signs that may be left over, as well as collecting the donations received by canvassers.
If you are interested in helping to convene a group of canvassers (such as friends, neighbors, or co-workers) but you don’t have door to door canvass experience, we will work with you to link your group with an experienced canvasser.
Canvassers receive training from the canvass coordinator and knock on doors in target neighborhoods in order to start conversations about how to strengthen our communities and best support threatened populations such as immigrants. Canvasses happen on weekends. You can go out in pairs or as individuals. Canvassers offer yard signs that say, in three languages, “No matter where you are from, we’re glad you’re our neighbor” and collect donations for the cost of the signs.
Sign Distribution Manager
The sign distribution manager is in charge of tracking inventory, invoicing sign distribution to businesses, agencies, and volunteer sign distributors, and placing orders for new signs.
Outreach Manager: Partner Businesses & Organizations
Currently there are five great storefront businesses that distribute our lawn signs. In order to expand the area our signs are distributed, we are looking for a volunteer to reach out to businesses, faith organizations, and justice groups in our targeted areas to see if they are interested in becoming sign distributors.
Social Media Reporter
This person will collect photos and stories about this project to be shared on our website and social media as well as with news organizations who reach out to us. Stories can involve updates from canvasses, people’s reactions to seeing signs in their communities, and people’s personal experiences arising out of displaying a sign at their home.
